The kind in a can you can dab w/ a Q-tip or little brush. The printing will start rubbing off the buttons pretty fast tho, so might want some clear polyurethane on them. Rotates smoothly, battery door slides out easy. But you can get the button cell 5-packs or whatever on here cheap. Good features adjusting the tuning point +/- and flipping display upside down to show the other way with a button push. Won't mar up a headstock, it's padded well.
